IT is an essential enabler while working, teaching or studying from home and we have many tools and resources to help you stay productive. As a timely reminder, here is a list of the essentials with handy links to full information and support.
- Remote working tools and guidance - Our Work remotely web page tells you how to enable remote working using your Single Sign-On (SSO), virtual private network (VPN) or remote desktop. It also includes links to the University's most commonly used services, helping you quickly access the systems you need for teaching, research and administration.
- IT tools and quick help guides - Easy-to-follow guides for many popular services including Teams, Replay lecture capture and VPN are available on our COVID-19 working from home page on the IT Help site.
- Using Nexus365 Teams – Teams has enabled us all to meet and collaborate online safely. The Teams quick help guides tell you how to run meetings, webinars and Teams Live Events. Our IT teachers in the IT Learning Centre have collated videos and resources, helping you to make the best use of Teams and other Nexus365 tools.
- Teaching remotely – Do you need to record lectures or teaching sessions? Panopto is the tool to use and workshops have been scheduled for Hilary term. Additional materials and frequently asked questions (FAQs) are available on the remote learning page on our IT Help site. Lots of useful guidance for teaching remotely is also available on the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) website.
- Staying safe online - We recommend you review this useful working from home advice about online security. Lots more guidance on all aspects of cyber safety is available on the University's Information Security website.
- Getting IT help – Your local IT support officer should be your first contact, but our central IT Service Desk is available 24/7 to deal with IT requests and problems. Phone 01865 (6)12345 with your University card to hand, or view other ways to contact the Service Desk.
