Data you can depend on with the Azure Integration Platform
A new platform for fast, reliable and secure flow of data across the University, enhancing data quality and reducing manual work
Accurate and up-to-date information is essential in today’s fast-paced university environment. Academic, research and operational success depends on key data being propagated swiftly and securely to the apps where it is used. This includes data about staff, students, courses, finances, and more.
IT Services has recently enabled significant improvements to the flow of staff and student data by making it easier to automate and enhance:
- Automated data flows are faster, more reliable and more secure than manually copying data from one system to another.
- Real-time data flows ensure that new and updated records are available to connected systems in minutes or hours – no more waiting for overnight updates.
- Improved performance of HR and Student Systems by moving the data sharing workload to a dedicated platform.
This has been made possible by adopting the Azure Integration Platform (AIP): a robust and secure system that is designed specifically to enable data flows between digital systems.
Success in action: HR case management
An early success has been the provision of live HR data feeds into the new HR Case Management solution in Halo.
Using the Azure Integration Platform means that when an HR administrator opens a new HR case, they can instantly access complete, accurate and up-to-date staff details. No missing records, no typos or cut-and-paste errors, no waiting for new staff details to show up. This allows HR staff to focus on progressing complex employee queries quickly and efficiently.
What’s coming next?
The platform's reach is being expanded to further streamline key functions at the University. Future developments include:
- Delivering more student data to the CRM (Halo).
- Providing staff data to Worktribe (Oxford Research Management System) to support research administration.
- Automating account setup in HR Employee Self Service, making the process faster for new staff.
