Single Sign-On login for Managed Staff PC users

If you use a centrally managed PC (CONNECT laptop or desktop) in UAS or GLAM, you can now upgrade to a simpler, faster way to log in each day.

The new login method uses a secure six-digit PIN or biometric options such as fingerprint, or facial recognition (if your device allows this), making access both quicker and easier. Your option of PIN or biometrics are set up using your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials and this means you will no longer need to use your CONNECT password every time you log in.

Why upgrade to the new login?

Our top three reasons for moving to the new login are:

  • Speed: Logging in is much faster, saving you time at the start of your day.
  • Convenience: If you need to use a generic or hot desk device, it is simple to access your account.
  • Security: It acts as a form of multi-factor authentication (MFA). Your PIN or biometric is tied to the physical hardware of your specific laptop. This means you are verifying something you have (the laptop) plus something you know (the PIN). This high level of security means you won't be interrupted by repeated MFA prompts on your phone.

Once logged in you will no longer need to login and use MFA when accessing the following Microsoft applications Office, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, or when accessing SSO restricted websites when using Microsoft Edge. This is also the case with Cisco VPN client.

Finding the new login much faster, one user told us:

I love how quick it is to log in each time – a vast improvement on the previous login process!

Accessing the new login process

If you are a managed (CONNECT) device user in UAS or GLAM you can upgrade your device to the new login process. After you have upgraded, all you will have to do is log in each day with your PIN or biometric information. It’s super quick and secure as it uses your choice of a PIN or biometrics, which are recognised globally as being more secure than a password.

To take advantage of this new faster login process, please contact the Desktop Services team.

Further information and support

Users of certain applications (including SITS Vision, GOPRO, HRIS reporting, TM1, Unity, Integration Services and more - see the full list on the upgrade page), are not able to upgrade at the moment. Please be assured this is being worked on and you will be informed when you are able to upgrade. Please contact the Desktop Services team if have questions about this.

Did you know?

After you have upgraded, you only need your PIN or biometrics to log in and won’t need to enter other credentials when using Microsoft applications for the rest of the day.
