IT Services fundraisers are making a mark

Knitters United present 2019 fundraising proceeds to James Richardson from Oxfordshire Mind

For the past few years, a group of creative IT Services staff have been fundraising for charity, and 2020 is no exception.

The Knitters United group usually meets biweekly, and together they produce collections of themed woollen goods for sale. Their Easter and Christmas drives have become well known at the department, and each year they donate proceedings to a different charity of choice.

Earlier this year, the Knitters United presented over £1390.00 raised in 2019 to two local organisations, The Gatehouse and Oxfordshire Mind.

Despite the challenges of a 2020 national lockdown, the knitters are soldiering on. The group continues their creative pursuits together over Nexus365 Teams.

Key organiser, Wendy Simmonds, says they hope to keep raising funds this year. “At the moment we’re working on some individual pieces and projects and taking time to check in with each other over Teams” she tells us. “Next we’re looking into making keyrings and even accessories for face masks.”

Look out for future opportunities to support worthwhile local charities by supporting this industrious group.
